HOME MADE VANILLA ESSENCE

🟢 Difficulty: Easy
⏰ Time: 5 minutes preparation (plus 6 weeks infusion)

🧂 Ingredients

  • 750ml bottle of 80 proof (40% alcohol) vodka
  • 10 vanilla pods

👩‍🍳 Method

  1. 🔪 Slit the vanilla pods and scrape out the seeds. Add seeds to the vodka.
  2. 🥄 Add all the empty vanilla pods into the bottle of vodka.
  3. 🍶 Cap the bottle and shake vigorously.
  4. 🕯 Store in a dark, cool place for 6 weeks. Shake the bottle weekly to mix and infuse.
  5. ✅ After 6 weeks, your vanilla essence is ready. Longer infusion (6–12 months) strengthens the flavor.

💡 Tip: The essence improves over time, so patience gives the best vanilla aroma and taste.
